Hi all,
I find that SU2 supports the inlet profile, but I didn't find related documents or tutorials. What is the file format? What variables can be set in this way? Is it possible to set multiple inlets?
Thanks!

zhen

Hi Zhen,

please look here for a tutorial which introduces inlet profiles https://su2code.github.io/tutorials/Inc_Laminar_Step/
I hope this answers most questions. When it comes to multiple inlet profiles you might have to combine your inlets to just one and write everything into one inlet profile. That of course is kind of a hacky solution but might be the fastest and easiest solution.

hope that helps, Tobi

with using custom inlet profiles, do any specific changes need to be made to the restart files in the configuration? I followed the steps in the tutorial for my own case, but when I run it, I get the error "requesting a negative iteration number for the restart file!!". it runs absolutely fine with a uniform inlet profile though, I'm relatively new to SU2 so I'm having trouble trying to figure out what the error actually means.

why do the inlets need to be combined into one inlet?
A marker and profile is created for each inlet and that seems to work fine. It also adds turbulence quantities to the inlet profiles, so by defining inlet boundary conditions using a file you can also use different turbulence profiles at different inlets.
