Hello, there!
I'm new to SU2. I was very interested in this software product, it is interesting to learn more about it. Before that, I worked only in ANSYS Fluent. I looked at test examples from the textbook, most of them are written for subsonic speeds. I wanted to reproduce supersonic flow in the cone flow task. The type of problem is flat, axisymmetric. I built the geometry and selected the .cfg file from the available examples. To verify the results of the solution, I built the geometry in ANSYS Fluent. The flow pattern was similar. However, the Mach cone angle doesn’t correspond to that obtained in ANSYS. Also, the value of surface parameters (pressure and temperature) was almost twice as high. The parameters in the area are also high. I'm asking for your help in understanding the situation and pointing out my mistakes. In the app, I attach a grid file and a configuration file. Thanks. |

Few suggestions -
Since you are trying to simulate flow past a cone, add AXISYMMETRIC=YES in your .cfg file. Also you are running a second order accurate simulation by using MUSCL=YES, switch on the limiter by SLOPE_LIMITER_FLOW=VENKATAKRISHNAN_WANG. Hope these should sort out the problems. |
