Hello SU2 Forum,
My attempts to output the Tecplot binary(plt, szplt) from turb_ONERAM6.cfg with SU2_Raven 5.0.0 have been in vain. while 1) SU2_CFD... returns..Solution Postprocessing.... WRITING TECPLOT ASCII FILE (Volume/ Surface grid) 2) SU2_SOL ( for parallel runs) returns the same. The config has been set to read OUTPUT_FORMAT=TECPLOT_BINARY What is working : 1) parallel run with mpirun / mpirun.openmpi, 2) SU2_SOL after the runs are complete, 3) Paraview(*.vtk) works fine as well Query: 1) right Output_Format = TECPLOT or TECPLOT_BINARY ? what is the difference 2) if there is way to [install]reconfigure only the TECIO in SU2 , without disturbing other libraries and paths, during make, If so how ? 3) if there is a possibility that some lines in SU2_SOL/ SU2_CFD / Configure maybe FLAGged OFF to read TECIO 4) if there is an external way to convert the flow.dat into TECPLOT binary (flow.plt) Thank you. PS : i have scanned through the SU2 forum, probably this issue is trivial to rest not me though. |

Do you need some feature of version 5 that does not exist in version 7 (the output part of the code has been greatly improved in version 7...)

Completely agree newer the better. I don't see anything pressing that doesnt allow me to move to Blackbird from Raven except the painstaking libraries/ workflow i setup on the desktop for Raven. But for now i needed just the *.plt from the test case that I ran for nearly 1186s on 16proc for ~3k iteration [not sure if that's decent scaleup on multiproc]. for ample # of test setup i tried just to see why it failed to spit out the *.plt. I tried the 2D aerofoils, Centrifugal Blade, stage etc.. same effect no TecPlot Binary. Wondering If there was something trivial that i forgot to flag ON. I do see the TECIO lib in the SU2xx/externals. Will be glad if you can help me a way to figure out (or) least provide a path where the *.plt can be found for OneraM6. |

I don't know much about v5, with a bit of luck the restart file will still be compatible with v7 and you can use SU2_SOL from v7 to export to tecplot (the build system in v7 is also easier to use and it will build the code with tecplot support by default).
If that fails and you need to re run the case v7 should be about 2x faster. |
