Dear all,
I am trying to optimize an A320 aircraft wing. Could someone please tell me how can I change the wing sweep angle in SU2? I have gone through all the SU2 tutorial but could not find a way to change the wing sweep angle. It would be really helpful if someone could help me out here. Thanks in advance Shreyas |

Dear Shreyas,
SU2 is a solver and needs a mesh (2D or 3D). Wing geometric parameters like Sweep, Aspect Ratio, Taper ration, Twist and airfoil cross sections need to be incorporated in a CAD file. This CAD file then needs to be imported into a Mesh generation file to obtain a 3D volume mesh in .SU2 format. SU2 solver reads the mesh file for further processing. So SU2 Config includes other parameters for computing like M, AOA, bets, turbulence model ( or Euler) and whole lot of others. SO you want to change geometry , you have to work at the CAD level. You can explore OpenVSP tool for this purpose, I use GMSH, of course both are open source. Check out the web site "JoshtheEngineer" he has nice videos to explaining geometry, mesh creation for SU2. Hope it helps. Narahari |

Dear Mr. Narahari,
Thank you very much for your reply. Sorry, I guess my query was not clear as I had not included all the details of my problem. Actually, I have already created a 3D mesh and converted it into .SU2 format and placed a FFD box enclosing my wing. I have also verified the SU2 gradients by performing sensitivity analysis. Now while running my optimization I need to define wing sweep angle as a design variable. I would like to know how this can be done in SU2? I hope my query is clear now. If you need additional details, kindly let me know. Thanks and kind regards Shreyas |

Hi Shreyas,
I am really interested in changing sweep angle by using mesh deformation. I used FFD box and move all outer corners through x direction but it doesnt help much to me. If you find anythig, please let us know. Thanks, Kaan Quote:
