Hello
I am trying to simulate the behavior of rope used in road barriers. Can we use 1D element to reduce the mesh size. If it is possible what properties should be assigned to the 1D element so that it behaves like actual rope. Please suggest some ideas. Thank and regards, Mayank |

Hi. First of all, check what accuracy you actually need for the response of this rope..but regardless, theoretically, you need the constitutive and/or phenomenological behavior of your rope.. then you need a 1-D element which accepts this material model and finally set a non-linear analysis... if it needs to be static or transient, it depends on your problem. Good luck
