Hello everybody,

I would like to model the flow along a complex geometry with : cross section changes, obstacles, tubes bundle etc...

I started to evaluate different values of region's porosity and set a porous media model in order to obtain "real velocities" (ie flow acceleration due to cross section reduction).

My question is : how can I fill the porous inertial and viscous resistance tensor in order to model the real pressure drop across the domain ?

Thanks in advance for your answers !

Hi, to obtain that value you have 2 different strategies that you can adopt, the first one is to evaluate the pressure drop dp/dx from experimental measures at different velocities, and the second one is to do the same bit numerically, starting form the real geometry.
In both cases you need to perform the simulation for different velocities, to obtain a curve dp/dx vs. V.
Then with a linear or polynomial regression, you can evaluate the constant C1 and C2 (namely viscous and inertial terms ).
Best,
Filippo
