arun1994 is on a distinguished road
I am using Star CCM mesher and this is an inclined tube. Why is the prism layer mesh not uniform or symmetric? Also in the regions where there is a wedge type of meeting between two walls, the prism layer ends abruptly. I am also attaching the options I have used. What is wrong/why?

The prism layer retracts when are sharp opening angles. If it does not do this, you end up with cells with very high skewness and your simulation will diverge every time. You can turn of this behavior by changing the angle thresholds.

The prism layer thickness is also reduced when you meet or exceed the gap fill percentage. Only a certain % of the space between two surfaces can be filled with prism layers.

You might want to try advancing layer mesher if you don't like this method of generating prism layers using subsurface projection.
arun1994 and XINWEI like this.
