Hello all,
I am new to Star CCM+ and have previously worked on Ansys fluid modelling packages. I was wondering if these is any way in which in can post process the results from Star CCM+ in the CFD Post? Any particular format in which if I export results from Star, that can be read and used by CFD post. I want to do usual result investigation which would involve creating planes, surfaces, lines to understand the flow and varraible behaviour. In my limited time with star ccm+ i.e. 7 days or so, I don't think i can find a similair way as it goes in CFX. To save time, it'll a lot easier to do the post processing in cfd post and if anyone can point me towards the right direction, it'll be really great. Thank you |

STAR-CCM+ is pretty easy to use for these basic post-processing types, you should take a look at the user guide.
However you can always export your results to a neutral file type as long as whatever other code you have supports it. Techplot and ensight files are pretty common ones to try. |

I found it difficult (havenŽt figured it out) to load multiple transient output files in the star ccm+ to post process and compare the variables at different physical times. Any direction on how to load multiple .ccm files for analysis in the star would be a great help. Tech plot and ensight would involve buying them, which would take time and money. I already have access to cfd post and was trying to export the output from ccm+ in the cgns format but no luck till now as i can only get the grid data but not the solution variables. Any help on this matter would be great. Thank you. |

No, when I said techplot and ensight I merely meant exporting to their formats. Hopefully CFD-post can read those formats. I'm sure there are some other importers of 3rd party formats other than CGNS. You shouldn't have to buy techplot or ensight merely to export to their datatypes.
If you want to view solutions at multiple times you need to be using the solution histories feature. |

Thank you for the response.
Unfortunately, cfd-post doesnŽt accept tecplot or ensight format files (i tried but the error read not acceptable format). Thanks for the solution histories feature. IŽll give it a try. I wonder what is wrong with cgns format. Cfx imports both mesh and solution data with cgns export feature whereas ccm+ as per my experience till now, only outputs grid. Thank you again |
