Hi all StarCCM+ experts!
I am working on a bachelor project where I am going to document the separation efficiency of particles in a cyclone. I am using StarCCM+ 10.04.009 with multiphase flow, Lagrangian multiphase and Boundary condition. I have generated the track file and uploaded it in Tools --> Track files. But the new node Particle Track is not created in the simulation tree as I have expected. I have attached a screenshot that maybe could help the troubleshooting of my issue. Hope you can help me progress in the simulation and make some progress with this project. |

Hi,
I'm working on a cylone separator for my bachelor thesis as well First, you have reversed flow at the Outlet. So you should enlarge it (you can activate extruder in the mesh model options) I think you have allready reloaded the trackfile? If not, delete the Trackfile and import it again. Then you can activate the "Auto-Load" and "Parallel Processing". I didnt have that problem yet.. try that things best regards |

Hi Nils,
Thanks for answering. we have tried this method didn't go very well, we got it to work after some tries. That is nice to hear that somebody is working on a Cyclone at the same time. we can keep i touch if you needed anything. We are kind of stuck somewhere else now (we have a problem with the different sizes of particles we suppose to simulate with ( 100 micron ) but the particles get stuck in the cyclone so we tried with a smaller particles ( 10 micron ) and it went very well kind of strange ) |

Well I have simillar problems
I dont even know which particle sizes are relevant for the simulation^^ which model do you use? Euler-Lagrange? VoF? Euler-Euler? Im using just a lagrangian multiphase simulation to recieve the particle tracks. This is complex enough, if you regard the droplet-wall-interaction and some other stuff^^ it would be very helpfull if we stay in contact |

Hei,
well i am using the same Lagrangian multi-phase simulation with a particle Phase. I will send you a pm |

Hi,
I think I got the solution. Procedure goes as mention below.
It works fine. The problem of node being disappeared due to higher number of update frequency. Higher number mostly disturbs the particle flow path and it has no information to show. Therefore node doesn't show up after 5. |
