Hello everybody,

I wonder if it is possible to visualize the internal mesh as whole elements on a section plane in star ccm+, know that this feature it is called "show whole elements" in Ansys cfx. Have been using Star ccm+ for a while and always thought that this was not possible, but I have seen pictures online that shows mesh scenes from star ccm+ with exactly this feature (have attached an image that seems to be from star ccm+ of an geometry scene that shows this).

Thanks

Hi,

let's assume you have a geometry that extends in the x-direction from x < 1 m to x > 1 m. Let's further assume you want to visualize the internal mesh at the yz-Plane @ x = 1 m.

1. Open your mesh Scene
2. Create a derived part of type threshold.
Input Parts: The meshed parts that you are interested in.
Scalar: Centroid Laboratory X.
Extraction Mode: All Below.
Threshold Value: 1m.
Display: Existing Displayer -> Mesh 1
3. In Mesh Scene 1 -> Displayers -> Mesh 1 -> Parts hide everything except "Threshold"

Thank you DCK for a quick reply and a good answer to my question, have now tried this and it work perfect!

There's a derived part designed for this that's less cumbersome than using a threshold called a cell surface. Input a plane section to that and you will get a similar view.

Great answer, had a feeling that there where an easier way of doing this visualization
