Hi everybody,
I'm new on Star CCM+ and I want to study the case of the moving square inside a rectangular box. I think the Overset mesh is the only solution, but I have some problems ; I created a background block, an overset blcok and a square block (the square block is inside the overset block). I made 2 regions (Overset and background)with the operation "subtract". But when I want to create an interface between both regions, the only possibility is an heat exchanger. I've done the tutorial "Lifeboat with an overset mesh" but I didn't find tutorial which explains how to set up an overset mesh. I will be very very (very) grateful if you help me ! Regards. Jordan |

I just looked at the tutorial you mentioned and it explains how to generate it from a CAD import. The mesh that it says you are importing at the start is the surface mesh, not the volume mesh. The step where you couple the regions is how you define the overset mesh option.

Thanks for your answer
I've eventually achieved to create an overset interface (I've just restarted and ... hop !) |

Hey Jordan, I'm facing the same problem you were facing.
I'm really struggling with it. Please tell me how you solved the issue. It'll be extremely helpful |

Hello SKBA,
I think you don't have to substract anything. You have to create two regions, the Background region and the Overset Region which contains the overset boundary and the walls of the moving body and after that create the overset interface between regions. Mirel |
