Hi All,
Does anyone know the difference between A 246 (Breaking wave algorithm) and A 248 (Breaking wave persistence algorithm) and can point me to some literature that can describe these parameters? Additionally, does anyone has an example where they were able to successfully able to simulate breaking waves in REEF3D SFLOW and would be willing to share or point me to a paper? Cheers, Patrick |

Hi Patrick, the persistence parameter is an indicator for the duration of the breaking algorithm, or when to stop the breaking process. The details can be found in 'Wang et. al., 2020, An improved depth-averaged nonhydrostatic shallow water model with quadratic pressure approximation, https://doi.org/10.1002/fld.4807'.

Hi Patrick,
the same breaking wave model is used in REEF3D::FNPF, see here for the corresponding journal paper: https://t.co/FjU5Vui3VW. In this, paper there is also validation of the breaking wave model. For both SFLOW and FNPF we have used Ting & Kirby's experiment for testing. |
