Hi there,

I have a question.

I am wondering if MeshLink provides mesh derivatives with respect to a geometry parameter.

Let's say there is a wing that has been meshed and now does the "evaluation of computational geometry" in MeshLink mean I can get mesh derivatives for example with respect to the span length?

I see parametric evaluation in geometry kernel in the doc but I am not sure this is what I think it is.

If this parametric evaluation doesn't do exactly what I need, could you please give mesh some advice how I could do this through MeshLink?

I know I can change the span a bit and do finite difference but I am interested in implementing automated differentiation to get mesh sensitivities.

Cheers,
Pay

The current Pointwise MeshLink implementation only exports to the Geode NMB cad format. You will need to request access to Geode via Pointwise support. MeshLink + NMB +Geode will give you access to the geometric data to which the surface mesh is constrained.

Thank you David. I know about Geode and have already requested for the beta testing access; though haven’t heard yet.

I guess I have to see if through those data I could get mesh sensitivities with respect to a geometric parameter let’s say.

Looking forward to this very interesting tool.

Best,
Pay

It is my understanding that MeshLink will only give you the relationships between grid data and the CAD curves/surfaces to which they are constrained.

With this linkage, your application can query info about the CAD data, project points to the appropriate entities, etc. This permits you to refine a mesh and keep it conformal to the CAD.

MeshLink itself does not provide any kind of analysis information.

Maybe someone else can clarify this.

I also think the same way. I have to do the sensitivity analysis through MeshLink.
I am thinking what is the best way to obtain sensitivities. I know some do finite difference.
