Hi guys,
I recently encountered an error in FLUENT as
BUILD grid : Aborted due to critical error.
Seems there is problem with the meshing.
The geometry is just a rectangular structured grid thats it.
Still im getting the error if i reduce the number of points...
Please could you help me out??
The rectangular region is done in xy plane with axis oriented at y=0 since im gonna proceed with axisymmetric swirl option in ANSYS
Thanks in advance

I have here attached, the screenshot of the error which i faced while importing pointwise file to ansys.
The pointwise file is also uploaded. The geometry is a rectangle composed of structured mesh. This grid is the flow field in consideration of my simulation.
The ansys does not proceed when i import the pointwise file.
I have changed the number of points and still the error is unchanged
Any help is highly appreciated.
The number of points in the grid is 750x500
Please guide me through this problem

The first thing to check with a 2D grid is that the domain orientations are all consistent.

You can check this using the Edit, Orient... menu option.
  1. Select all the domains
  2. Choose Edit, Orient...

Make sure all the domain normals (orange color) are pointing in the same direction.

In the image I attached, the domain in the upper left corner is pointing the wrong direction.

Thank you for your reply..
Can u explain more how to orient the domains, since im not getting any directions except for two vectors, in yellow and red colour. Im new to pointwise, so can you please help me with how to orient domains? Most importantly, can u explain why this problem would rectify the issue im facing??
Why is orientation of blocks necessary?

Thanks again

The KEY in the task window shows the color for the I and J direction.

Use the right-hand rule (I x J) to determine the Z (normal) direction.

The Z vector display was recently added. Which version of Pointwise are you running?

im running pointwise v17
I have somewhat understood the problem, thank you very much
Why is not possible to orient structured and unstructured mesh together?
Im able to orient only category wise.

Thanks in advance

Can you be more specific with your version? Is it 17.1? 17.2? 17.3? And which release? For example 17.3R5. If you open the Help, About... dialog box, you can copy paste the full version string.

Why can't you orient str and uns domains together? I have wondered the same thing myself!

It is a known limitation in Pointwise. You can log a WISH with Pointwise support if you want that ability added.
