Connectors don't catch database

I try to mesh a pointed airfoil with a sharp trailing edge with a C-type mesh. I followed a tutorial on youtube but I could not mesh the round part in the front of the airfoil.
When I looked closer, I saw that the Connectors did not catch the database fully at the trailing edge, so I guess, there was a hole in the grid, why I could not connect it. Can I manually change the endpoint of an connector? As I have a quasi-3D-database, perhaps a solution could be to first reduce it to 2D and when the mesh is done in 2D to extrude it again? Any idea or help will be appreciated. |

Without knowing the details of your geometry (and hence why the node ended up there) my first guess would be to manually split the (bottom) connector at the trailing edge point.
- Select the connector, Edit>Split - Move the cursor to the trailing edge point until it "snaps" to that point. Left-click to split the connector - Select top 2 connectors, Edit>Join Let me know the result. -Chris |

Thank you, this basically worked.
But still there are some things that I could not fully solve. First I split the lower connector in order to catch the trailing edge. Then I have two connectors on the suction side, which I join. But the spacing still is seperated, even though it is one connector (see pictures). /edit: So both spacings start at the last point before the trailing edge, so I can't controll the amount of points there and the spacing, as for the last part of the suction side, I have one single point.. I guess my problems are pretty basic ones, I just started working with pointwise. |

Oh, there's one additional step I forgot to mention that will get rid of the mis-matched spacing where you joined the connectors.
- Select the connector on the suction surface, Grid>Distribute - Go to Break Point tab, at the bottom, click Delete All Break Points - Go to Spacing tab and set the desired spacing at the trailing edge - Go to Distribution tab and set the desired distribution function on that connector The explanation is that when you join connectors, a break point is created in the resulting connector where the connector was joined. A break point is a special grid point in a connector that gives the user additional control of the location and spacing within the connector. More often than not, when I join connectors, I don't want the resulting breakpoints so I simply remove them and reset the distribution (as I described above). Let me know if that works. -Chris |
