Hi guys,

I'm a complete newbie on Linux, and I just installed the newest version for OpenFoam+ (took me lots of time and effort). Now I'm trying to install Paraview, and I only managed to download a .tar.gz file that had a folder called "ParaView-5.1.2-Qt4-OpenGL2-MPI-Linux-64bit" inside, and I don't know how to execute it to open the application, or if I have to use some kind of command. I searched everywhere, and I couldn't find anything. Do you guys have any clue?

Thanks

Hi,

Have you downloaded third-party?
Before that which OpenFOAM version are you using?

Regards,
Gowhar

Hi Friends,
I actually have got the same problem. I already have paraview 5.0.1 on my system (UBUNTU 14.0), but want to upgrade to the version 5.1.2. I download the .tar file and unzip it in my /opt directory, but do not know how to install or upgrade to new version.

Any help or comment would be highly appreciated in advance

As far as i know, unzip the file in local folder. It is not required to be in /opt/.

Now, inside the paraview folder --> bin-->
there you will find the paraview executable

just double click on the paraview. It is 100% working.

Note: paraFoam wont work with this. if you want to work with openfoam you must download third-party and inside that you will find makeParaView script. You just need to run that script. It might be taking 1-2 hours to complete the process.

Hi Friend,

Thank you very much for your response!

I tried to find the "bin" folder in my paraview folder, but I did not see it.
Please, notice that I downloaded the "source file".

For you notice, I have attached a snapshot of those files inside the paraview folder.

Awaiting to see your response...
Thanks

Hi,

I got your point. The package which you have is source package. I suggest you to download the binary package. it is portable and easy to use.

Source Package - 50 MB
Binary Package - 496 MB

I have attached the screen-shot of Binary Package.Source package installation takes a lot of time (2-3 hours).
If you want to install, use the below command,
PHP Code:
mohammedgowhari_33@tefugen131-dstp:/media/truecrypt1/Set_Up/ParaView-v5.1.2$  cmake CMakeLists.txt
This will automatically install.

If you need any further clarification, please feel free to ask it.
