I am new to OpenFOAM (v2.4.0) and ParaView (v4.1.0). I am working through OF's first tutorial for the driven cavity. During post-processing in ParaView, the tutorial has me create a Slice and then a Contour in the Pipeline Browser. I then see colored isolines on the model (see attached Screen Shot 1). Is there a way to change the isolines into smooth contours across the whole flow field, similar to my attached Screen Shot 2? Seeing just infinitesimal isolines doesn't really work help me much.

Thanks in advance,
M Ridzon

Greetings Matt and a Happy New Year

I'm not certain if you noticed that in the contour filter you chose the "p" field and not the U field.
You can use the Calculator filter to create the "Ux" field if you need it separately for the contours.

Best regards,
Bruno

Bruno,

Thanks but that's a moot point. I can change it to say Ux, Uy, or Uz, but the result is the same. I still get an isoline plot, but am trying to instead create a smooth contour plot.

I finally figured it out anyway. I don't need to use the Contour filter. Instead, I can create the contour plot from the main branch of that case in the Pipeline Browser. I just set Representation=Surface and then set the Display Coloring to the property I am interested in (e.g., Ux). And I get the smooth contour plot I was after.

Thanks,
M Ridzon
