threshold filter: irregular border of image

Hi to everyone.
I have a problem using the threshold filter in Paraview. When I use first the slice filter and then threshold filter on the internal fluid domain, I obtain an irregular border of the plot (as in the attached image), is there any option to have a smooth regular border of the image? Thanks in advance, WhiteW |

Quick question: Which type of data representation are you selecting in the Threshold filter options? Are you selecting Point Data or Cell Data?

Thanks for the reply, I'm using a Cell Data scalar, obtained with the calculator filter. But the same irregular border are present also when I chose a Point Data.

Hi WhiteW,
Then it looks like you have a very high resolution mesh for your data. I'm not familiar with any filters in ParaView can smooth out the data before you apply the Threshold filter; I say this because after the filter is applied, there isn't much more we can do to the data with ParaView filters... although... the only one that comes to mind is the "Delaunay 3D". An example of using "Delaunay 3D" for resampling data points is available here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/par...tml#post474006 Best regards, Bruno |

Yes I have a very high resolution mesh, it is a 16M cell size.
I tried to apply the "Delaunay 3D" filter, but the mesh has too many elements; after 6 hours paraview was still applying the filter.. I have found a different solution in order to obtain a threshold with smooth borders, using only the slice command. - apply the slice - rescale to custom data range (the range is that I wanted in the threshold filter) - open the color map editor - activate "enable opacity mapping for surfaces" Now the slice is visible only in the selected range, as in the threshold. I used CellDAtaToPointData before the command in order to have more smooth borders. Thanks anyway for the suggestion! ;-) WhiteW |
