Hello everyone,

I need to calculate the derivatives of velocity dui/dxj and duj/dxi on the middle of a wave flume, so i can calculate the Reynolds stresses.

Can i do it using paraview? If so, could someone explain me how to do it or point me to some papers explaining the subject..

Thanks!

António

Anyone knows something about this?

To calculate the Reynolds stresses im going to use this equation:

-ui'uj'=2vtSij-2/3*k*deltaij

with Sij=1/2*(deltaU/deltaxj+deltaUj/deltaxi)

So the only thing i need is this velocity derivatives, can i do it in paraview?

Thanks!

Hi António,

There is "Gradient Of Unstructured DataSet" filter which does exactly what you want. For velocity vector it calculates 9 component tensor (dU/dx, dU/dy, dU/dz, dV/dx, dV/dy, dV/dz,dW/dx, dW/dy, dW/dz).
