Hello,

I am a new user of OpenFOAM, and would like to study thermo-acoustic instability in premixed combustion.

I saw that one of the solvers for pre-mixed combustion is XiFoam. Can it be used for the purpose above? Where can I see the code where the combustion, and acoustic calculations are performed?
Is there a tutorial case that studies thermo-acoustic interactions?

Thank you very much!

Default XiFoam can handle it

Hi,

As far as i know, i have not seen any LES simulation to obtain flame transfer function for thermoacoustic simulations.
I am trying to do it , and i am trying to use GroovyBC for timevarying velocity inlets.

Kind Regards,

Farshad

Hi Farshad,

Were you able to calculate the flame transfer function? How did you define and compute it?

PS: I came across some work that determines the volumetric heat release (we can use domainIntegrate) and area average velocity (patchAvergae could be used here). The TF can then be determined, and so I'm trying to implement this.
Would you be kind enough to let me know how you determine FTF?
Also, should the volumetric heat release be calculated over entire volume of combustion chamber, or just the flame volume?

Thanks,
Amit
