Hi all,
I was wondering if someone knew how to extract and log the orientation of a 6DoF object? I am interested in being able to record the pitch, roll, and yaw angles of a ship model (preferably in degrees, but radians is fine too). As far as I can discern the orientation is stored in a tensor Q which is used among other things in the 6 DoF motion solvers. I was wondering how you modify what is logged and what files must be modified (both runtime and or OF files) so that I can get a file similar to the "forces" file output of the force function group? Any help would would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dave,
I know this is a very old post but your question is very interesting. did you find a way to do that?

Hi mona!
Thanks for your reply! The post was really helpful. Now I'm interesting in doing it in run time, I mean I need to extract the orientation from the log file in run time to use it in my modified restraint library.

Any suggest?

Thanks in advance

Federica
