Dear All,
I am comparing pipe flow simulation between CFX and Openfoam (using simplefoam solver) with different boundary conditions. Boundary condition1: Velocity inlet - 1 m/sec Pressure outlet - 0 Boundary condition 2: Pressure inlet : 497925.3 m2/s2 Pressure outlet : 489626.6 m2/s2 The comparison of pressure contour and velocity contour files are attached. The values of presssure and velocities from CFX and Openfoam are not matching at all. Can please let me know the where I am doing mistake in Openfoam. Regards, Sam |

Sameer,
I'm also trying to perform a pipe flow using simpleFoam and compare it with Fluent. I'm still setting up my OpenFOAM case,so could you share your cases with me? I mean, initial and boundary conditions (the 0 directory, including turbulence initialisation), your control dictionary and your transport properties? Then if I get any results, I'll let you know. Thank you. BR, Vitor Braga |

Turbulent or laminar flow? Air or water? Are you using the same mesh? Are you modelling it using wedge boundaries in openfoam? You need to be clearer about what you're modelling; looking at your ANSYS velocity plot, it looks more like a turbulent profile than laminar, what's the Reynolds number?
If it's a laminar flow, the result is very sensitive to the mesh refinement.

Hi, I know this is an old post, but why is the result very sensitive to the mesh refinement for laminar pipe flow? Could you please explain it to me? Thanks
