Hallo,
I plan to simulate electromagnetic wave propagation based on Maxwells equations. Can anybody tell me if there is a solver in OpenFOAM suitable for such problems? Best regards lkh |

Electromagnetics of an electric rod and surrounding air (By Margarita Sass-Tisovskaya) http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kur.../rodSlides.pdf http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kur...08/rodFoam.tgz http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kur...odFoamCase.tgz goes somehow in the direction you want to use OF for elvis |

Hi, I tried to run the rodFoam solver but ended up in the error as follows:

Sooner or later someone will read this thread about "modelling electromagnetics using OpenFOAM".
My advice - if you have simple electromagnetic problem (basic geometry, single region) then you can do it! If your problem is complex one (geometry, multi-regions) then try Elmer FEM + OpenFOAM : http://eof-library.com |

Dzhordzhs thanks!
"Sooner or later" was about two and a half years later, but your advice was very helpful. Elmer plus OpenFoam was exactly what I needed for some capacitance design questions I've been working on. |
