Hello,

I want to simulate a stirrer configuration with a continous and a dispersed phase (patricles, bubbles or droplets).
I found an MRFinterFoam configuration in the tutorials but for my case with dispersed particles, I think that the euler model would be best.

Is their an MRFtwoPhaseEulerFoam or any model like this published or how can I create one?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Hi Mark,

I am modelling aerated stirred tanks and am trying to get an MRF version of twoPhaseEulerFoam to work. I have a model, but in my case the problem seems to be with the turbulence (since standard twoPhaseEulerFoam does not allow turbulence). I think I will work something out soon and I will post it.

Best regards,

Gijs

PS what are your flow conditions and what is the dispersed volume fraction you're interested in?

Hello again,

thanks for writing me. Hi have a stirred tank, but I have a dispersed droplet phase in it. The dispersed volume fraction should be around 0.05 up to 0.15, depending on the flow conditions. The flow conditions are a counter current flow what makes it not easier to calculate But all in all, the main conditions will be nearly the same (turbulence model, euler euler and so on). I have made some PIV measurements and calculated the whole thing with FLUENT. But to get away from the commercial software, I want to try it out with OpenFOAM.

Cu

Hi Mark,

Well, I'm still working to get MRFTwoPhaseEulerFoam to work and not explode. But in the mean time I found some nice documentation on bubbleFoam here, that probably can be used for your case.

Best regards,

Gijs

hello, I got internet .. .yeaahh... I just checked my volume fraction. It is a little bit higher then I mentioned before (around, 0,3 . The other value was only a test case.

I just took a look at the bubbleFoam Solver. That does not seem too bad. But still no MRF implementation ready... So I think, I have to take a closer look as soon as I am back.

If you have OpenFOAM-1.6-ext installed you can find a tutorial along with the solver source here:

~/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.6-ext/tutorials/multiphase/interFoam/MRFInterFoam

I'm not sure if the solver is distributed in non -extend openfoam releases or not however.

whether mrfinterfoam suits the solving of on room airpurifier or not, if not which solver is better to solve this tyoe problem

Yep, there are:

Hi Gijs

Recently I am working on simulating stirred tank , but I failed and being stuck by mesh problem. You can see it here. http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post397546
Have you ever simulated you condition successfully?
