Hi all,

I have been having error issues with using the plateHole tutorial in OpenFoam. I am new to OpenFoam in general and have tried troubleshooting. The error is :

FOAM FATAL ERROR: (openfoam-2312 patch=240220)
cannot find file "/home/alloutofnames/OpenFoam-Tests/tutorial/plateHole/0/D"

I believe that foam is not able to find the constant D file as it says, however the file exists there and has the correct information in it. I then tried to fix the polymesh folder (I read that this was the reason) and it didn't change it. I am not using snapphexmash only the standard blockMesh.

If anyone could help it would be great

Can I just correct the initial part of your post:
Quote:

... it is actually complaining that file
Code:
/home/alloutofnames/OpenFoam-Tests/tutorial/plateHole/0/D
doesn't exist, i.e. D in time folder 0, not constant ... probably just a typo on your part. So, assuming that when you say
Quote:
however the file exists there
I assume that you mean the file exists in folder 0? In fact, perhaps you could try typing the following lines from your case folder and let us know the output from each line:
Code:
pwd
ls 0.orig
ls 0
ls -l /home/alloutofnames/OpenFoam-Tests/tutorial/plateHole/0/D

Hi

Thank you so much I didn't understand what was going wrong (very new to it all) but your comment made me realize the error

All the information for the D was contained in 0.orig, so I renamed 0.orig to 0 and it ran as normal. Just error in naming so the solidDisplacementFoam was confused.

Thanks for the help, have a great day!
