Hey guys,
I managed to successfully create the blockmesh and snappyhexmesh. I also checked the mesh using the command checkmesh afterwards, but when I want to see the mesh in paraview using the commands, paraview or paraFoam I get this error : patch type 'patch' not constraint type 'empty' for patch frontAndBack of field p_rgh in file "/opt/Mycases/CaseTestV3/0/p_rgh" but when I use this command: paraview -builtin the paraview opens but it only shows me the blockmesh created and not the snappyhexmesh. Please if anybody can help tell me how can I see my 3D mesh in paraview? p.s. for one the surfaces in blockmeshdict I put the type "patch" but for the same surface in folder 0 in constant the type is "empty" because I dont want to do the CFD on that direction. I dont know if that is the cause of the problem! |

Make sure that the blockMesh encloses the object/model/volume completely.
I am facing similar problem, Earlier I could not see snappyHexMesh at all, but then I re-created the whole setup again and made sure the reference point was inside the correct region. It did show the snappyHexMesh but now it is in the wrong region. I have posted the question here last month but I am still waiting for reply. One thing that I noted was that Paraview works on different units as compared to the CAD softwares, so to verify that your object is indeed inside blockMesh, open the .stl file of volume and the block mesh and confirm that blockMesh encloses the volume completely. And if someone knows the issue with my case, please let me know as well. You can find the issue here snappyHexMesh and blockMesh not creating mesh in correct region. I hope this helps. Cheers! |

Hi!
Since I'm a newbie, this might sounds silly. When I open parafoam I only see the background mesh. If I want to see the finer mesh, I select "Clip", which is like cutting the background, this allows me to se the "inside" of the mesh, and I can see the finner mesh. I mention this just in case. Best wishes /Joc |

Hi Atefeh, I think this is exactly your problem, if the type of the patch is "patch", as you put in the blockMesh, it cannot have a "empty" boundary condition in the 0 folder
