Hi, I'm a newbie in OpenFOAM and CFD in general. I'm wondering if it is possible to use simpleFoam or any other steady-state solver for a dynamicFvMesh case (rotating system). I also want to use kOmegaSST model for turbulence.
I'd be very grateful for any reply. |

You cannot combine steady state with mesh motion since that is inherently unsteady. You would need a time-dependent solver like pimpleFoam or pisoFoam specifically for incompressible cases.

Hi,
If you really need the motion, you need a time-dependent solver as Erick said. There is some tutorials which handle rotating motion with a steady-state solver. https://develop.openfoam.com/Develop.../mixerVessel2D https://develop.openfoam.com/Develop.../turbineSiting https://develop.openfoam.com/Develop...Foam/rotorDisk Extremely helpful info... https://www.slideshare.net/fumiyanoz...using-openfoam other info... http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Se...RF_development https://eddy.pu-toyama.ac.jp/cabinet...04?frame_id=61 |
