Hi,
i'm using ubuntu 17 and the base "text editor" is very slow while opening and then saving the input/output openfoam text file (like U, T etc), to open a file of 300 mb it needs 2-3 minutes. The hardware is good in fact I open instantly the same file using notepad++ on windows. My question is: there is a file editor for ubuntu that is faster than default editor (even when opening the compressed file .gz)? what do you suggest? |

I assume that you are trying to edit boundary conditions in the file. Have you tried using the vi editor?
Please note that on Ubuntu you need to install the vim package to get a fully functioning vi editor. |

I mostly use vim text editor. It is bit tricky to use but once you get a hang of it, you enjoy it very well.
