Hello!

I'm having problems in a multiphase case, I'm using OpenFOAM 6, I'm adapting the wave tutorial. Because I'm trying to simulate a wave tank, but I can not simulate the wave according to the analytic wave. In my simulations the period is always smaller in relation to the theoretical period, and also affects the amplitude of the wave.

But in this version of OpenFoam it is not possible to put wave Celerity, just the mean flow. In my case it's zero, because I want to simulate just the wave.

Could it be an OpenFOAM bug?

Hi Otavio,

no idea what is going on with that wave generation, but if you use olaFlow ( https://github.com/phicau/olaFlow ) in OF6 you can specify the wave period that you desire in waveDict:

waveType        regular;
waveTheory      StokesII;
genAbs          1;
absDir          0.0;
nPaddles        1;
waveHeight      0.5;
wavePeriod      7.5;
waveDir         0.0;
wavePhase       1.57079633;

Hi Otavio,


I had a short look at your case. Your wave length is 65m, your wave tank has a depth of 10m, i.e. this is shallow water. Therefore both the period and amplitude will be affacted.
