Hi All,
I am trying to have a simulation of fishing nets in OpenFOAM and was wondering if there is any way to consider the fishing net as a surface instead of solid cylinders ( Or considering them as a porous membrane with infinitesimal thickness ). Meshing over each twine of large nets will make the simulation computationally expensive. I hope to have a coupled problem and input to the fluid simulation as points (Or Lines representing the Net). I found MembraneFoam, which was developed to model Forward Osmosis Water treatment. But I could not find a way to do it for fishing nets since the flow was not due to a difference in concentration like how it is in forward osmosis. Thanks in advance for your valuable advice and inputs. Sarath |

Hi,
The porousBafflePressure comes to mind. This would lead to a pressure jump as an effect of normal velocity, which seems to be what you are aiming for? Regards, Tom |

This is something interesting to my case. I will look forward to try them. Thanks a lot for your suggestion Tom.
