Hello,
I have tried to use the turboPerformance with OpenFOAM 2.3.x according to this link: https://github.com/wyldckat/OSIG-Tur...formance-OF2.x But during steady-state calculation the "Moment" seems to be underestimated. All other OF version (with the appropriate turboPerformance libs) predict significantely different values (relative derivation of more that 80%). So I suppose that there is a bug in this turboPerformance version or even in OF-2.3.x in combination with steady-state simulations considering rotating frames (simpleFoam and fvOptions). Has anyone same experiences with this issue? BR, MARKUS Last edited by lentschi; July 30, 2014 at 06:04. |

Greetings Markus,
Sorry about that. I really only took care of making it build. I didn't have much time to figure out how exactly things work and to double check if tutorials were running properly with each version of OpenFOAM or not. If you can provide more details on how I can reproduce the same error and indicate what I should look at, as well as where there are problems in the results, I should be able to have a better look into this and try to fix the problem. Otherwise, I won't even know where to start looking at and might end up never seeing the same problem you're seeing. Best regards, Bruno

I also have been interested in the turboPerformance libraries for OF2.2/2.3. I've been using turboPerformance with 1.6-ext for a while, but have recently trialed Bruno's turboPerformance port for 2.2.2 and 2.3.
In my (single) trial to date, results between 1.6-ext, 2.2 and 2.3 with turboPerformance seem pretty close. This is for an axial fan case using simpleFoam & MRF. For example, typical numbers are as follows. First number for 1.6-ext, second for 2.2.2, 3rd for 2.3. Code:
OF Version 1.6-ext 2.2.2 2.3 Inlet velocity average 1.694 1.685 1.652 Outlet velocity average 9.674 9.630 9.441 Head 22.862 22.843 23.027 Tomega 1150 1143 1130 Efficiency 69.89 69.94 69.88 Blade axial force 56.262 55.672 55.751 Shaft moment 6.230 6.420 6.130 Of course, there may still be an issue with the libraries, and I've just been lucky enough not to stumble across it yet. It's reasonably early days for me with turboPerformance & OF2.2.2/2.3, but just wanted to add another data point to the discussion. Regards Steve |
