Hi everyone,
I am an application engineer in the field of renewable energy solutions and I would like to simulate solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). I found a nice publication where the author did SOFC simulations with the msmt library which Valerio Novaresio released here mid of this year: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...ry-update.html Well, I played around with the small tutorial. But I don't have a clue how to use this library for SOFC modeling. I was not even able to switch the tutorial from Fick to Maxwell-Stefan diffusion. So does anyone of you a hint for me to get startet? Best regards, Andreas |

Hi Valerio,
thank's a lot for your reply. Usually we work with Comsol Multiphysics to simulate fuel cell or stacks. Unfortunately the memory demand of comsol is exhaustive. For example: A Model, we tried to use, has only 1e6 cells, but the memory of 196GB RAM of our cluster was not enough... So I look for some alternatives to comsol. The advantage of OpenFOAM is, as you already know, the capability to write your own physics into the model. We are at the very first beginning. So I tried to start with the change from fick to maxwell-stefan diffusion in your stefan tube example. Later we want to calculate the example from the paper: "Ho et.al. Journal of Power Sources 195 (2010) 6764pp." Best regards, Andreas |
