Dear FOAMers,

The number of Reynolds Stress Transport Models implemented in OpenFOAM seems to be relatively small (only LRR and LaunderGibson as I know of). Both are high-Re formulation, i.e. wall functions should be used.

For my research, I need wall-resolved RSTM. Therefore, I implemented two formulations of RSTM with elliptic relaxations/blending, i.e.:

Durbin:
Durbin Elliptic Relaxation Model (Durbin1993)
ManceauHanjalic:
Hanjalic Elliptic Blending Model (Manceau2002)

My colleague M. Wild reviewed the code, cleaned up the style, and made up a lot of improvements. Now, the code is hosted on github, together with a solver and an example case. The address is:

https://github.com/xiaoh/EllipticRSTM

You can obtain them by:

git clone git://github.com/xiaoh/EllipticRSTM.git

More information please see the README and the code itself. Any feedback or improvement is appreciated!

Hi Xiaoh, it's been a long time since you already posted these models!

I am testing a derived version of Manceau's elliptic model, and following your work was very helpful.

About this (I know you already did this study a long time ago), I have some questions:
  • Have you ever used both models in 2D channel flows?
  • Have you tested the model in steady simulations?
  • In your GitHub simulation you used cyclic conditions on the spanwise direction, but there you only had 1 cell. Is that BC approppriate?
I will test your implementations (already in OF7).

Regards,
Agustín
