Hi foamers,

My question is about the wave models implemented in openfoam.

Which height is specified in the wave formulas is it the Hs (significant wave) or Hmax (maximum wave), I can't found the info in the doxygen manual :

I attached an image with the stokes II model.

And does it generate a rayleigh distribution or is it just one wave height ?

Thanks!

The image you provided is clear: there is only one omega, meaning it is a monochromatic wave and has only one wave height.

Right! so we can say it's like generating multiple solitary waves ?

But how do we generate a real sea state with a Rayleigh distribution for the heights (image attached) ?

StokesII waves are different from solitary waves. Generating irregular waves is not difficult. In general, a linear sum of airy waves can be regarded as irregular waves, while the amplitude of each wave component can be calculated according to the spectrum used. I believe that the wave class has included irregular wave generation. So you can refer to the code.
