I want to simulate the motion of a water-air interface in particle packings where the particles should also be able to move.
So ideally, I would use a Volume-of-Fluid solver and an IB-Method to model the particles. I was looking around for existing implementations and found that foam-extend has a very promising approach. See for example this presentation by H. Jasak.

So, I compiled foam-extend-4.1, got the immersedBoundary tutorials to run, but I fail in setting up a VoF case using these immersed boundaries.
I added an obstacle to the damBreak case to simulate something like the case shown on slide 13 (see link above) but this just fails with the message:

Should this kind of setup be working in this version? Am I just missing something during the setup? Or does this work only in some internal / development version which I am not aware of? For instance, I do not find any mention of the solver (navalIbFoam) indicated on that slide.

A note for clarification: In contrast to version 4.1, foam-extend-4.0 contains examples for VoF_IB setups like the damBreak with obstacle and a dedicated solver (interIbFoam) for this kind of problems. However, the underlying IBM seems have been improved since then.
