Transition modeling of NACA-0012 Airfoil in OpenFOAM

Hello Everyone,
You might be aware of the inability of RANS to accurately predict flow physics near stall at low Reynolds Number. I am trying to perform simulation of NACA0012 Airfoil at a very low Reynolds Number on OpenFOAM. I've tried using both laminar and turbulence(Spalarat Allmaras) models, however the results were not in agreement with the experimental values near the stall. Due to excessive computational requirements, I don't want to go with LES or DNS. Hence I am planning to perform transition modeling in which I am going to divide the computational domain into laminar and turbulent regime and modify the value of turbulence viscosity accordingly. To model transition i would like to model the forward part of the airfoil as laminar and the rear as turbulent. Are there any way i can force the turbulent model to do so? Thanks |

As an alternative (and I guess better) approach you can use a transition model such as k-kl-w.
There are also more transition models developed by the community which is required to be compiled by yourself depending on the OpenFOAM verison. You can find them in this forum via search... |
