Dear Foamers,
I am modeling a complex structure usign CFD with prescribed motion of the wall. The motion has to be prescribed at every point of the wall, and it is not constant or uniform. I know the position of the surface in time, so I implemented the motion in openFoam 5.0 using dynamicMotionSolverFvMesh, and prescribing the displacement of each point. The wall motion calculation worked as expected, but due to the complexity of the geometry, the CFD mesh fails due to negative volume elements. I then switched to foam-extend 4.0, to use the immersed boundary approach, which would be the optimal solution for my case. Problem is that I could find only the immersedBoundarySolidBodyMotionFvMesh to solve the motion. The only example I found is movingCylinderInChannelIco and most of the threads and comments refer to previous versions of foam-extend. Is there anything similar to dynamicMotionSolverFvMesh implemented for immersed boundary? Is it possible to combine the mesh solver with the immersed boundary approach? Thank you in advance! A. |
