Hello everyone,
I am a beginner in OpenFOAM and would love some help with this project I'm starting on. I want to run a simulation of a cylindrical duct, in which the main-flow is air and a different gas in injected radially via a secondary duct. So I will probably deal with a 2D-axisymmetric, single-phase (but multispecies), low-Mach (incompressible), unsteady problem. Could you please provide a suggestion for which solver to use and/or how to model the injection process? Thank you very much Andrea |

Dear Andrea!
If you have no condition of strict low Mach solver then you can use reactingFoam which can be set up for incompressible or low Mach case. Axisymmetric mesh will do fine. Also, for sample or similar kind of case you can look up to tutorials of openfoam dev version of Sandia flame D. Ayush |

I think pisoFoam or icoFoam can do the trick
otherwise there is a list of standard solvers here: https://www.openfoam.com/documentati...rd-solvers.php if you are new to OpenFoam i suggest you have a look at this webpage: https://wiki.openfoam.com/Tutorials This video might be something close to what you need https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KznljrgWSvo - Fridrik Magnusson |

Thank you for your answers.
After a couple of simulations with simpleFoam (in order to have the steady state solution before injecting) and then using reactingFoam as it is by deafult, only switching off the reactions, I realised that it is too expencive. I really need to run it incompressible (low mach approximation). Have you some advices about how I could make such a modification? I have been reading about a similar work done on reactingFoam in OF 2.0, but OF 4.x it is quite different and the actual modifications were not explained in detail. Thank you Andrea |
