Hi all,
I sometimes experience a strange behavior when running interFoam in parallel (6 cores). It seems to run fine without any signs of the case blowing up, and then suddendly stops execution without any error, at least in the interFoam output. Timesteps, courant, residuals, all seem to stay constant. When starting again (again from t=0) the same simulation will run perfectly fine until its end. I have no clue at all what could cause this issue. The only hint I have is that I was using the computer (e.g. logging in on Ubuntu, opening the case folder) just before this happened. But this might be misleading. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Some infos about my system: 2x Xeon 2650 , 64 GB reg ECC RAM Ubuntu 16.04 LTS OpenFoam 4.1 Any hints are highly welcome. If you would need additional infos, feel free to write me. |

I’ve got the same problem - only with waveDyMFoam ( which belongs to interfoam family).

it seems it is an issue with ubuntu.
I started using linux mint because of this. Everything was fine until 14.04 ubuntu but as soon as 16 version came, it started to kill the process and many times this situation appeared. So far have not observed with mint. |

Hi!
I'm experiencing the same problem with interFoam: simulation stops after some iterations, without error messages... then I relaunch it and it continues for some time then it stops again ... and so on I'm using ubuntu 18.04 on windows 10 openfoam 1712 and openfoam 6 |

I also got the same problem...
and when I restarted the simulation, sometimes it could finish but sometimes it would stop again... Do you have any idea how to fix it? Or any recommendations? I'm using Ubuntu 16.04, OpenFOAM-extend 4.0 |

Could be the linux out of memory killer (OOM) killing the process

Hi tinu,
Did you check the workspace memory? Because I faced the same problem when I check the workspace there was no sufficient memory. Once I cleared the space then it worked for me. |
