Solver for water jet simulation ??

Hi,
I have been searching for the right solver for simulating a water jet into air. I'm new to openFOAM and as of now, I understand it is ok to use the solver 'interfoam'. Please suggest if there are any other better solver or interfoam itself is the right one. The simulation is waterjet from nozzle into air at atmospheric pressure, turbulent flow. |

Hi,
twoPhaseEulerFoam comes to mind. I understand its more accurate but also more demanding in regards to meshing. So it depands on your needed accuracy. Maybe first try interFoam or for convenience even interDyMFoam (automatic mesh refinement) and compare the results to experimental data if any is given. If you have large discrepancy you can look into twoPhaseEulerFoam. You can check the advantages of twoPhaseEulerFoam, maybe you say right away its more suitable to your problem (compressibility effects etc.) Have fun. |
