hi dear all~!
I am a openfoam beginner. I'm interested in calculating the flow around ships incl. the free surface. I am using openFoam 2.3.0 to model the waves generated by a ship for a steady state. I want to get the wave pattern and also the pressure distribution along the hull. When I run the calculation with LTSInterFoam (using a k-omegaSST turbulence model) and see the wave pattern on the surface of the hull, it appears some strange waves. I think the global wave pattern is fine. but when I see the wave pattern on the surface of the hull in parafoam, the wave problem occur at some point. Does anyone use LTSInterFoam to model a free surface and know where my problem may come from? and I've attached some picture Thank you very much for any one could give me a little guideline |

I would check the mesh at that location as first step.
try to change the nonOrthognalcorrection and nOutercorrection to force the solver to put more precision when solving the alpha equation. try with different solvers in fvSolution. at last check the turbulence parameters. but mostly the local problems are mesh/solver related |

Hi ali~!
Thanks for your reply. and I'm sorry this reply is too late. I tried to change the nonOrthognalcorrection and nOutercorrection. first, the nonOrthognalcorrection didn't solve my problem. so I changed the nOutercorrection value from 1 to 3. my problem was solved at the value 2. but I don't know why wave pattern clearly show only at the value 2. |
