mhdFoam - Hunt Case and boundary conditions

Hi,
I have a problem to simulate the "Hunt Case" with the standard OpenFOAM-solver "mhdFoam". The Hunt Case is a 3D Channel with an electrical conducting fluid inside (e.g. x is the flow direction). Vertical to the flow direction is an constant and homogenous B-Field (y direction). At the Hunt Case there existsts two types of walls (Hartmann-walls with a perfect electrical conductivity and Side-Walls which are insulating). As a consequence, the B-Field "goes" into the Hartmann walls and but not into the side walls. Is it possible to simulate this case with the mhdFoam? I have problems to set the boundary conditions (e.g. in the B-File). Could anyone help me? greetings dbnrop Last edited by dbnrop; March 6, 2013 at 10:14. |

Read this one for the long answer. otherwise Zero gradient for the Hartment wall and fixed value for the side wall |

Hello again,
What sort of boundary conditions should i put if i want to put the hartmann wall condition at the top and bottom wall for my rectangular duct geometry and side walls that are insulating in the front and back. I am trying to replicate the Hartmann problem for a B=(0 0.019 0). When i apply the fixed value condition with value $internalField for B on all of the boundaries and make it vary so that Ha increases from 1 to 25 to 50, i, as expected, notice the change in the velocity profile where it tends to get straighter across the whole section. However in this case i presume that i applied conducting walls on all of the 4 boundaries and so what should i do in order to apply it on only 2 boundaries and insulating on the other two. Would appreciate any response |

Hi everyone!
I am an OpenFOAM beginner. I need to add external electric field along with magnetic Field in the mhdFoam solver and see its effects. Does anybody has done such thing or what should I do so I can apply external electric and magnetic field on a flowing fluid. |
