Greetings foamers!
I am a beginner in CFD and this is my first post here. I apologize in advance: I am not sure whether this is a repost or not, because I have found similar problems in this forum, but not (at least understood ) the answer. The problem (I have attached the 0.org): I am combining interDyMFoam tutorial case floatingObject with ihFoam tutorial case irreg45degTank using ihDyMFoam to simulate a cuboid in waves. The simulation runs fine for first 3 minutes, but then I get the following error: #0 Foam::error:rintStack(Foam::Ostream&) at ??:? #1 Foam::sigFpe::sigHandler(int) at ??:? #2 ? in "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6" #3 double Foam::sumProd<double>(Foam::UList<double> const&, Foam::UList<double> const&) at ??:? #4 Foam::PCG::solve(Foam::Field<double>&, Foam::Field<double> const&, unsigned char) const at ??:? #5 Foam::fvMatrix<double>::solveSegregated(Foam::dict ionary const&) at ??:? #6 Foam::fvMatrix<double>::solve(Foam::dictionary const&) at ??:? #7 ? at ??:? #8 __libc_start_main in "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6" #9 ? at ??:? Floating point exception (core dumped) I understand that this indicates there is something wrong with physics (dividing by zero), but as far as I can't get my head around where the problem could be. Thank You in advance! Martin Simon |

Hi Martin,
the eternal problem with interDyMFoam: it gets pressure instabilities and blows up. You should check whether this problem has been caused by a very deformed mesh or just by the solver parameters themselves. Best, Pablo |

Hi,
I have a problem with this simulation. I modified floatingObject tutorial in OF2.4 and I used ihFoam for waves generation. I link simulation folder and a video that shows the problem around the floating body. I think that it is due to mesh instability and the problem is with 6DoF in dynamicMeshDict. Do you have any suggestions? Last edited by benedip; September 22, 2016 at 06:42. |
