Dear Foamers,
I have a solver for compressible liquid and gas phases which uses vof method and solves one momentum equation with mixture properties. 1) Is it possible to solve two separate momentum equation for each phase with their own properties? How? 2) Is it possible to change the thermophysical properties of the solver which consider each phase separately? Best of all, Maryam |

Hi Maryam,
You can study the report/tutorial on A description of the twoPhaseEulerFoam solver (Author: Praveen Prabhu Baila) at http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kurser/OS_CFD_2008/ . This tutorial is for incompressible flow and it starts with a good description about defining properties and equations in two different phases. For compressible flows, you can find other similar reports. For example, the tutorial/report on A description and improvement of the interPhaseChangeFoam solver for Large Eddy Simulation of cavitating flow (Author:NaiXian LU) in the same website. Dear Anil,
Thanks. but I need a solver which considers both phases as compressible and heat transfer equation. Thanks again, Maryam |

Hi,
twoPhaseEulerSolver, in the more recent version of OpenFoam, solves for two compressible phases with two momentum equations (two velocities and one common pressure). Each phase has its own dictionary with the thermophysical properties. Mattia |

Hi Maryam,
Also, another tutorial on twoPhaseEulerFoam prepared by Sandra Busch is given in http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kurser/OS_CFD_2014/ Yours Anil Kunwar |
