Hi,

I wanted to know if there is a solver in OpenFOAM that can solve the advection- diffusion equation.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

did you consider scalarTransportFoam?

Based on this (https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/ScalarTransportFoam) it is just for convection-diffusion.
I want to have an advection-diffusion solver which can simulate mass generation and consumption. This topic is related to biomechanics and cell proliferation topics.

What is the difference you need from that solver?

So, advection and convection are quite similar.
It seems to be an uncoupled solver and it should be used after solving fluid flow.

Are you familiar with another solver which can solve the transport equation coupled?
What I expect from a solver is to have this ability to simulate mass transfer (incompressible, laminar, with mass consumption/generation).
How is reactingMultiphaseEulerFoam?

The next phase of my simulation includes solid particles in the fluid. I don't think there is any solver to simulate all of these things!

Hi,

maybe you can check buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFoam / pimplefoam. that is a buoyant solver, where temperature affects the momentum equation. However, if you set the gravity vector or beta (thermal expansion coefficient) to zero, the temperature field is just a passive scalar, transported by the momentum field. Is that what you're looking for?
