Hi,

Anyone else having problems with mesa drivers suddenly crashing paraview installed with paraviewopenfoam510 ? This is happening for me on multiple machines.

I don't know the root cause, but in case this helps you, if I overwrite the mesa directory in /opt/paraviewopenfoam510 (Ubuntu 22.04) with the mesa directory from paraviewopenfoam56 (installed with openfoam 9) I can run paraview in OpenFOAM11 again.

Hopefully there is an official fix, or maybe someone has a more elegant fix, but this quick fix kept me going this morning...

Cheers,
Eric

Same here, I posted the issue here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1504...latest-updates

The latest update introduces the issue, likely a problem with the symbolic links.

As written in the answers to that post:

Quote:
A workaround this issue is to deactivate GL on paraview. The following way of invoking paraFoam (or paraview) should do the trick:

ParaView_GL="" paraFoam
However this stopped working. When there will be a patch for paraFoam using the latest paraview? 5.12 doesn't have the issue
Where is the place to post that question to the developers of OpenFOAM?

I think you already posted the bug report to the right place: https://bugs.openfoam.org/view.php?id=4056 . As of right now there is no reply to your bug report.

The workaround I posted above is still working for me (copying the mesa directory from paraviewopenfoam56 to paraviewopenfaom510). I have not yet tried compiling paraView/paraFoam on my own to fix this problem, but that would probably be my next step if the workaround I wrote about here ever fails.
