It is my great pleasure to announce the 8th International OpenFOAM® Workshop in Jeju, Korea.
The series of past International OpenFOAM® Workshops has been a truly open forum for the OpenFOAM® community worldwide.
For the first time ever, the Workshop is going to be held in Asia, and it will be another exciting event for the whole CFD world.
Please join us and be one of the FOAMers. More details on the Workshop will be posted as soon as they are ready.

June 11, 2013 (Training Day)
For the benefit of new users and people interested in knowing the OpenFOAM® simulation platform, a basic training will be arranged on June 11.
For more advanced users, advanced trainings will also be organized on the same day.

June 12 and 14, 2013 (Technical Session)
Plenary and technical sessions will be held on June 12 and 14.
June 12 will be concluded with the workshop banquet dinner and cultural evening.


June 13, 2013 (Community Day)
June 13 will be dedicated to collaborative work.
It is encouraged through working group activities, to have Special Interest Groups (SIG) meetings, BoF sessions, clinics, and plenary sessions.

Hi again,

you can find attached a latex (pdflatex) template for the workshop papers. I know it might not be 100% accurate and it could have been more stylishly written, but it works and now we can use something else than MS Word.

Dear all,

from which I read on the latest newsletter the community day has a fixed schedule with only 4 topics for special interest groups:



I am working in coastal/offshore engineering and turbomachinery or automotive applications are of little interest to me. I wonder what happened with the spirit of the previous workshop in Darmstadt, in which the community day was orchestrated by the attendants, we voted the topics to cover. Other meetings (birds of a feather) were also a great idea, and could be organized this year as well.

I guess that in this edition less people are coming due to the far location of the workshop, but we could organize other SIG or BOF meetings provided a sufficient amount of people are interested

Several interesting topics in my opinion could be two-phase flows/wave generation and absorption/ship & wave hydrodynamics.

What do you all think? Anyone interested?

AFAIK the organizer are currently mailing the presenters for the final versions of their presentations and are planning to put them online in the next couple of weeks.

Expect the presentations to be available before those of the OpenCFD/ESI-Customer conference

Well. They've got their own event now and that wasn't honored by a new ext-release. So that's alright
