[snappyHexMesh] snappyhexmesh locationinmesh many bodies

Hello,
let say I have CHT problem with 50 bolts. Do I have to have 50 regions and manually define 50 insidePoint??

Is it possible to have all 50 bolts in only 1 region, since there is only one material and field (T)?

Not necessarily. The regions are also kept (meshed) if you specify a faceZone and a cellZone for it (you need faceZone to produce cellZone) in snappyHexMeshDict / refinementSurfaces / ... . You end up with 1 region per bolt, but it appears you can merge them, I hope this link helps: merge or combine several cellZone

Allright, I achieved this by having correctly directed normals for stl face elements and

BOLT { level ( 4 4 ) ; faceZone BOLT; cellZone BOLT; mode inside; }

splitMeshRegions -cellZonesOnly -overwrite
