Hi all,

I have to perform several analyses using Fluent but I preferred by far to develop my mesh using blockMesh. Before implementing the "real" mesh, I had a try exporting a simple 2D domain with a cylinder inside to Fluent, and it was a complete success. Every boundary was correctly defined, everything was ok... BUT I'm facing a problem that I don't know how to solve because I'm quite a newbie with OpenFOAM.

My mesh in Fluent needs to have four cell zones (Picture below):
  • Solid (dielectric material) (2)
  • Air (1)
  • Two different electrodes (3, 4)

I've been studying the problem and it seems that cell zones have to be defined previously in OpenFOAM before exporting it. I saw a command called "cellZone" but I don't know neither where to implement it nor how to use it. I'd appreciate a lot a bit of help with it.

Regards.

Hi HPE,

Thanks a lot for your response, but sadly I wasn't able to solve my problem with any of the links. The good point is that I found some ways that helped me to understand the problem and see different ways to solve it.

I attach the links below to help anyone that has this problem.

Link 1 (merging meshes): Multiple cell zone creation problem in ICEM
Link 2 (in the same mesh): How can I define different zones in ICEM?
