Dear Foamers,

I am trying to compare the results of MRFSimpleFoam and pimpleDyMFoam. For the ease of setup, I am using propeller tutorial available with OpenFOAM - 6. To implement MRF, I have retained mesh settings as it is and only made few changes to the Allmesh script. After SHM step, I have defined 'stitchMesh -partial innerCylinderSmall innerCylinderSmall_slave'. But the process is stopping by throwing the following error. I have tried with different refinement settings near the interface, but the result is same.

Quote:
--> FOAM FATAL ERROR:
Duplicate point found in cut face. Error in the face cutting algorithm for global face 5(621716 630054 633338 633339 630056) local face 5(2086 2087 2088 2089 2090)
Slave size: 23540 Master size: 23256 index: 604.

It would be great if you can provide some valuable inputs, so that I can work in the right direction.

Thank you all!

Hi!

I'm not sure if it is clear for me, but you wanna stitch the mesh on the cyclic interface, right?
Then just skip the topoSet and createPatch parts (this is what you would like to undo with the stitch, right?) and modify the case as you wish.

Hi Simrego,

Thank you for your valuable input. This is absolutely true with OpenFOAM 7. I was using openFoam 6, and the patches were created during snappy hex mesh phase. Therefore I have commented out the following lines from SHMdict. Now I can run simpleFoam with MRF.

Quote:
innerCylinderSmall
{
level (4 4);
// regions{}
//faceType boundary;
cellZone innerCylinderSmall;
faceZone innerCylinderSmall;
cellZoneInside inside;

boundary internal;
}
